About Violence Against Women Online Resources VAWOR is a collaborative project between the Minnesota Center Against Violence and Abuse (MINCAVA), a center within the School of Social Work at the University of Minnesota, and the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), U.S. Department of Justice. The site began in 1997 to ensure that products developed with Violence Against Women Act funds and other useful resources were widely available via the World Wide Web and accessible to OVW grantees, sub-grantees, and the general public. VAWOR materials are ADA accessible and user-friendly because they are coded into XML, a markup language that allows for easy representation of documents in many different formats (i.e. plain-text version, PDF, and alternate HTML versions such as pages without images). This project is supported by grant number 98-WT-VX-K001. |
